Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have faced escalating strikes in the past few days

Overnight, Russian aerial assaults have resulted in power cuts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Several individuals were hurt while inhabitants in eastern districts were plunged into darkness and encountered disruption to water systems, per reports from local authorities.

At the same time, a young boy was killed in a separate aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, according to regional authorities.

Russian forces has escalated strikes on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "concrete actions" from partner nations to increase pressure on Moscow.

He said that numerous aerial vehicles and several dozen missiles targeted energy facilities, labeling such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and technical staff were striving to repair systems.

Several of the people wounded in the strikes on the city have been hospitalized, per statements from municipal representatives.

Authorities told journalists that Moscow was purposely seeking to damage the country's energy grid, with strikes already impacting energy systems.

Officials stated energy workers and government agencies were bracing for more assaults.
